Itchy Throat (1)

One of the most common causes of itchy throat,  here in the USA, is from hayfever and rhinitis.  There are about 40- 60 million Americans that are affected by this imbalance.

Itchy throat refers to an uneasy sensation in the throat.  This condition usually produces a cough,a dry throat, and a hoarse voice. In TCM, there are four things the Practitioner must recognize and then formulate a formula based on one of this imbalances.  Which will accurately restore the patient's health back to the norm inshaaAllaah.  Here in this article we will only discuss the first cause along with the Principle Treatment .

Contraction of External Evils( Wind,Heat, Dampness, Dryness, or Cold)

External evils here Mai ly refers to wind, heat, and dryness.  Commonly heat and dryness combine with wind to invade the body.  Wind is a Yang ( aggressive) evil and its nature is to move. When other external evils invade the body in combination with wind, they fetter the exterior and lead to non diffusion of Lung 🫁 Energy ( The Lung 🫁  governs Energy and respiration,  and when Energy is deficient,  breathing is shirt, especially on exertion.  The Lungs 🫁 send Energy downwards and if it is deficient,  Energy cannot descend and will cause a cough.). Or they may lead to impairment of the lungs' 🫁 depuration. However,  in this case, instead of coming and going through the skin, these External evils come and go through the interstices  of the throat which pertains to the lungs. It is this in and out movement of evil energy which often creates itching in the throat.
